Second Day of Simulation Lab

Today was our second day of Simulation Lab with Mrs. Hall. She is a GREAT instructor. I am finally feeling like I am learning something. We took two quizzes, I got a 100 on one and an A on the other. Then, we checked off on sterile wet-to-dry dressings, not my favorite....but I got an A on that too. The rest of the day was spent teaching us about and how to do blood transfusions and the purpose of those. I left with my brain overloaded, but very happy that I did well today and that I learned something that stuck! We didn't get to do anything with the amazing dummy today, but next week we will be checked off with it and he will be having a transfusion reaction, good stuff! Arterial blood gases and hematology are on the study list for next week... Yuck!
I  have a lot on my schedule for the rest of the week. Class tomorrow all afternoon, then wedding dress shopping with Lauren (have to do my maid of honor duties) :), work Friday night and Saturday morning. Then, I am looking forward to spending a little time with Buddy, Stephanie, and Bo! Oh, and some time Sunday afternoon with Amanda and Jesse. Busy, Busy, but what in the world would I do if my schedule wasn't full and I wasn't scrounging around for more time?

Long Day

Long day today for me. Started out with work at 8 and the flu has officially hit Jonesboro so Urgent Care was busting at the seams today! Everytime we seemed to get caught up the waiting room was full again. After work I went to the new gym with Lauren and did my first workout....Man am I sore now. The combination of walking/jogging on the treadmill, stairclimber, and some strength training did me in! I only did about 30 minutes worth, but you have to start out slow, right? The rest of the afternoon involved grocery shopping, cleaning out the car, and giving Loki a bath, which, by the way, is a big ordeal. For some reason my dog HATES and I mean HATES baths. I usually end up just as wet as he does! Anyway, Loki and I are finally relaxing, watching Hallmark movies, and very shortly we'll be doing one my favorite things...sleeping! Tomorrow is a new day! (full of homework and studying....)

I didn't have any photos from today, but I thought you might enjoy some of these.

I can't remember exactly when this was taken...

He was cold!

First Ever Blog Post!

Well, first ever blog...We will see how it goes. I have officially survived Week 2 of semester 2 of 3 of RN program. Go me! It is one of the hardest things I have done, but I am sure it will be worth it in the end. Yesterday was a new clinical experience in our simulation lab. We got checked off on intramuscular injections and did a Virtual Hospital experience. We have a dummy worth thousands of dollars that has a pulse and blood pressure and can get IV's and shots and all kinds of things that we will get to do a simulation with sometime in the next two weeks.

We got about 3 inches of snow I would say today. Loki still doesn't quite know what to think of it even though this is the 2nd snow in his lifetime. Roads were clear today, but may not be in the morning if everything freezes, so getting to work tomorrow should be interesting. Tonight, putting away laundry, a little studying, and American Idol watching are on the agenda!

Beautiful view on the way home!

Loki tried to eat all the snow!
